-THE MURDER OF-
KURT COBAIN

THE MAIN EVIDENCE:
1. They didn't even fingerprint the gun until a month after Kurt's death, but they found no legible prints. No prints were found on the pen either. Dead men don't wipe prints! They made up some excuse about how the gun can shift in the hand during firing, smudging the prints, that's a weak explanation for NO PRINTS AT ALL? The coroner had said he gripped the gun so hard, they had to pry it out of his left hand and marks from the gun were seen on his palm. Two years after the fact Sgt. Cameron admitted that there were NO marks on Kurt’s hands indicating he had fired the weapon. "Yeah, there weren’t any marks on his hands...Some rookie must’ve put that line in the police report." Tom Grant says: "I can say with confidence that there were no marks on Cobain’s hands that would indicate he fired this weapon.
2. The "suicide note" is not a suicide note. It looks like the rest of Kurt's writings. It's a letter to his fans about why he is leaving Nirvana and does NOT mention suicide. People writing suicide notes write in the first person, not the third. They also don't speak from present "I have it good" etc. It appears to be suicidal ONLY after you read the last 4 lines of the note. Which are CLEARLY written in a different handwriting. Rosemary Carrol, CL and Kurt's lawyer, called Tom Grant repeatedly to voice her concerns. Her calls stop forever when she discovers Tom is taping the calls, she hangs up and he never hears from her again. Anywho, while she's still talking to Grant, Rosemary has been digging in CL's backpack that has been left at her house and has discovered a very suspicious looking piece of paper in CLs handwriting and has given it to Tom Grant. It looks quite clearly that she has been practicing someone else's (Kurt's) handwriting do that she can forge some sort of note. See for yourselves in these photos: Kurt's "Suicide Note" on the left, with obvious different handwriting styles in the last four lines and also perhaps "BODDAH". On the right, the "Handwriting Practice Samples" Rosemary Carrol found in CL's backpack:
So why does she suddenly clam up and after all the years her collaborations with CL with the release of Kurt's Journals etc, she has completely retracted her statements. One of the more kooky and first theorists Richard Lee write to Rosemary here and makes some interesting points in a letter he sends:
http://www.angelfire.com/home/KCWMTV/kcwm.html
highlight: "What I attempted to ask Mr. Goldberg about, as you know, is the most notorious episode in your career, that 5 years ago tape recordings were released in which you were heard offering your opinion or knowledge that Kurt Cobain's so-called suicide note was a fake ("That suicide note is...forged," you said). Together with an investigator's claim that you gave him a handwriting "practice page," this convincingly showed your client Courtney Love to be guilty of the act of committing that elaborate hoax, which is inextricably weaved into the strange circumstances surrounding Cobain's death, evidently the result of a conspiracy of murder.
The long-lingering question has been if you and Danny Goldberg were parties to that conspiracy, and in what way. There are very many reasons for someone in your position to shun any association with a client who has brought you such disrepute, and yet various indications over the years have hinted that a close association continues between you, your husband, and Courtney Love-Cobain."
3. So by 4-2-94, we know that Kurt was at home at Lake Washington. And he had also purchased the shotgun BEFORE he left for rehab, which says a lot about his mindset. He was in fear for his life. The gun was loaded with 3 loads, light loads for protection, NOT suicide. I don't think he would have let anyone unknown in, so someone is there with him and that someone is acting like a Trojan Horse. They are reporting back to CL his every move and they are posing as his friend, and I think it highly possible that person was "Cali" Dewitt, but perhaps he was not acting alone. Both Cali Dewitt and his girlfriend reported that they saw Kurt the morning after he returned to the Lake house from rehab. CL told Tom Grant that "she doesn't know where Kurt is", but he later finds that out to be false through Cali, and CLs Peninsula Hotel phone records show EIGHT calls to Dewitt's private line at the Lake property in that time frame. I find it disturbing that the day before Kurt's body is found, CL flies DeWitt to Los Angeles then ships him off to rehab in an undisclosed location, effectively killing Grant's ability to question him further. If she is so concerned with finding the missing Kurt, why did Cali leave instead of helping Tom Grant? Instead, he plants the staircase note (example, next page) and takes off, to what? Show that he hasn't seen Kurt? Anyway, Kurt let's down his guard for a minute, did the Trojan Horse take a moment to empty some Rohynol in a glass of juice to incapacitate him, or perhaps the Barq's rootbeer at the scene? They found traces of diazepam in his blood. Tom Grant and Dylan Carlson found a blister pack of Rohypnol under the mattress when they did their search. OR was it a person more accustomed to doing heroin with Kurt, and they sat and did an initial shot together, then when he is stoned, the killer forces another shot in his other arm, incapacitated him for killing later. In any case, someone he trusted incapacitated him, and then someone killed him via shotgun or shot him after he was already dead to set the stage. Coagulation would have set in if he was dead a little while before they shot him. Could that be why there was not very much blood at the scene? Did one person incapacitate and another shoot him? Gary Smith, the electrician that found him describes how neatly he was laid out in the greenhouse. And what was he doing up there anyway? Everyone said they never used that room, Kurt never went up there. It is obvious that while he was already dead from heroin overdose or close to it, he was taken to the greenhouse and shot in the mouth. The scene was then staged to look like a suicide. It was also unusually clean. Almost as if the entire house had been cleaned from top to bottom to cover the scene. That was strange in itself as the house was NEVER that clean according to family and friends. When Carlson and Tom Grant enter the house to search for Kurt on April 7th, his first comment was “I’ve never seen the house this clean before.” I think that's pretty telling don't you? One person was known to be there at the Lake house when Kurt returned to rehab. Cali DeWitt, a drug-dependent hanger-on under CLs control. Yet Dewitt is never questioned.
4. Let's discuss drug TOLERANCE, as it seems to be a huge deciding factor for most people, that it was possible for someone with "Kurt's level of tolerance" to still shoot himself with that much heroin in his blood. Kurt's blood had a blood morphine level of 1.52 milligrams per liter. Hartshorne was a medical Doctor but I don't think he really raised an eyebrow at that number because he did not understand what it really meant. For anyone versed in the field, this number would have set off some serious alarms. The reason is basically this. Kurt's blood contained a triple lethal dose of morphine (I am going to use morphine bc Heroin instantly turns into morphine once injected so that is what they use to measure). What does that mean. Here's what it does NOT mean: that he had triple the normal dose, so what. It means he had triple the normal LETHAL dose. That means he had 75 times the normal dose of morphine in his blood. You heard me. SEVENTY-FIVE times the normal dose in is blood. Enough to kill him three times over, INSTANTLY. That is enough heroin to kill a horse, but people want to say that Kurt's tolerance was enough to withstand it. IT'S BULLSHIT. AND FURTHERMORE NOT EVEN HUMANLY POSSIBLE. If you read the independent study done by chemist Roger Lewis, called "Dead Men Don't Pull Triggers". It helps you put this in perspective. He compares hundreds of known cases that are similar. He also has absolutely NOTHING to gain from doing this study, other than to show that the way Kurt killed himself is simply impossible. SO impossible in fact, that NO KNOWN SIMILAR CASE exists in the entire WORLD that is like it! Know why? Kurt would have been dead or incapacitated within SECONDS after that lethal dose. EVEN FOR SEVERE ADDICTS: No amount of tolerance build-up by even the most dedicated user can withstand the amount of morphine that was in Kurt's blood without instantly dying with the needle still in their arm. Shooting up is a time-consuming process, most people don't realize, which is why most overdose's with even a third of what was found in Kurt's blood are found dead with the needle still in their arm. How does this slight man weighing only 120 pounds manage to do what no one else can do? That's shoot himself up (in BOTH arms), roll down his sleeves, put his drug "kit" away, then shoot himself in the mouth with a shotgun? Oh, and there was diazepam in his blood which is well-known to increase the lethal effects of a heroin injection.
"The most serious heroin addicts will die with virtual certainty with much less than a dose of 75 mg to 80 mg of heroin. After studying many hundreds of such cases, it is clearly established that 75 mg to 80 mg is the maximum lethal dose for even the most severe heroin addicts."
Did you read that^^^ ?? Even a severe addict with an extremely high-tolerance, would be incapacitated with LESS than a THIRD of what was in his blood. There is NO WAY, after that much of a lethal dose, he is PHYSICALLY ABLE to shoot himself in the mouth. It has never happened before, because it is not possible. Just because he is Kurt Cobain, does not mean he can kill himself in a superhuman way. If he didn't shoot himself; then who did? Simple. Here is the whole article, it is eye-opening:
Dead Men Don't Pull Triggers by chemist Roger Lewis:
http://pages.suddenlink.net/suprnerd/lewis/lewis1.htm
The Nick Broomfield documentary 'Kurt and Courtney' does a lot of damage to the facts of overdose that are scientifically proved by Roger Lewis when he allows that doctor to come on and say that it all a matter of tolerance. What he says is complete bullshit. Broomfield shows a photo of a man balancing on one leg and says:
“Tom Grant’s assertion that 1.52 milligrams of heroin per liter of blood would have incapacitated Kurt was discounted by Dr. Colin Brewer, formerly director of Westminster Hospital. He gave us this color slide of a patient balancing easily on one leg, who had taken the equivalent of over twice the amount taken by Kurt. In any event, Dr. Brewer said it would take 30 seconds to one minute for the heroin to circulate to take effect, leaving ample time to fire a gun.”
The fact is, that the man shown in the photo had swallowed 1,000 mgs of methadone, he did not inject himself with heroin, so why this is even compared as a valid argument, I do not understand. Quite obviously someone who has taken a different drug altogether and orally, is going to effect the amount of time a person has to pick up that shotgun. The 30 seconds to a minute is false pertaining to injection, injection of a dose that lethal and the timing for incapacitation is a mere seconds.
I've always had trouble with that one. If he is going to kill himself, why not just overdose? Much simpler, not such a bloody recollection of events would be preserved for his daughter. Why would he leave her with that image of him? I don't think he would. I think his daughter was his new reason for living. But CL doesn't care what it would be like for Frances. The fact is this: Why use the shotgun when he is already dead of an overdose? Because in the state of Washington, all accidental fatal overdoses must be investigated thoroughly unless evidence of a suicide is overwhelming. Ahhhh….There is it. If it looks like suicide open and shut= NO INVESTIGATION! It all makes sense now doesn't it. I think Kurt had to die by that weekend. On Monday, he would have had a chance to talk to the bank about his cancelled credit cards, have his final will notarized or hell, even signed divorce papers. Kurt was in the process of leaving Courtney and Seattle when he was found dead. Courtney knew Kurt wanted out of the marriage. Just weeks prior to his death, she asked Rosemary Carrol to get the “meanest, most vicious divorce lawyer” she could find. (Tom Grant Case Files)
5. Someone was using or trying to use Kurt's credit card several times after he was already dead. This PROVES he was not alone. That card was in his wallet. Someone took it after he was dead and tried to use it on three different occasions FOR THREE DAYS AFTER HIS DEATH. The police discount this because they say there is a delay as to when the charges show up and therefore it is not accurate, but the credit card company has said the delay is usually 15 to 20 mins, NOT something that should just be swept under and ignored! The last charge was said to be an attempt to charge flowers. Kinda creepy huh? Like whomever had the card knew Kurt was dead? Look at the dates. Those dates, Kurt is lying in the greenhouse dead and not yet discovered. The statements:
6. Kurt told several people, on several occasions from the intervention on that he was contemplating a trip "back east". He had plans to do some collaboration with Michael Stipe, and judging by the date of his plane ticket purchase, he was planning on leaving SOON. Kristen Pfaff was also headed east. Strange coincidence? Why did Kurt purchase two more plane tickets the night he jumped the fence at rehab? ^^See those three charges at the top? Those are three plane tickets, the last purchases he made while he was still alive. One back to Seattle, two more for destination unknown. Sounds to me like a man who had plans to go somewhere else, not go back to Seattle and end it all. A suicidal man DOES NOT MAKE PLANS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE. (I apologize for the poor pic quality. I took them on my computer screen with my phone when I watched the "Unsolved Mysteries" segment.) He didn't hide the fact that he was leaving rehab from CL, he left a message for her at the BH Peninsula saying where he could be reached and a phone number. Courtney never mentioned this detail to the media, or to Tom Grant, the investigator she hired to "find him", she says she "doesn't know where he is". A lie. Cali DeWitt told Tom Grant later that he told CL Kurt was at the Lake House on April 2nd. Kurt was not missing or hiding, she knew where he was the whole time. She tells TG she has had no contact with Kurt, but her phone records indicate thirteen phone calls from the Peninsula hotel to the Marina Del Rey rehab the day Kurt left. Kurt arrived in Seattle early Saturday morning, April 2nd, and was taken to his house on Lake Washington by a hired driver. (Saturday night Courtney had a friend plant a phony story with the Associated Press that she had overdosed on drugs and was in the hospital. This planted story becomes significant later in the investigation because she is going to try and pretend that they had a "suicide pact" which will make for more insane press) Tom Grant Case Files. If she knows enough to fake overdose on the day he is found dead, then it sure sounds like she was a part of Kurt's death whether or not she pulled the trigger.
7. Ok, this is WEIRD, and few people even know about it, in case you are one of those people that have read a LOT about the case as I have, this is something new and it gave me the creeps. On 4-7-94 while they are still searching for Kurt, Tom Grant and Dylan C find Kurt's 1965 Dodge Dart parked in front of a friend's house. There was a "For Sale" sign on it and the tires were flattened. Tom Grant says he knows who drove the car there, he cannot reveal this info until the case is re-opened. WTF is up with that?!?! Kinda like someone just took Kurt's car like they knew he was dead or something? Here is a photo taken from Tom Grant Case Files with Dylan Carlson checking it out. It also seems like someone was taking pains to insure Kurt's lack of mobility. Cancelling his credit cards and flattening his tires:
8. CL was facing a divorce, a pre-nup and being written out of Kurt's will---all documented. Motive Motive and Motive. In fact, Kurt was in the process of becoming a free man, something he desperately wanted. A call or subpoena to the victim’s attorney would reveal he was seeking divorce. He wanted the divorce. His spouse did not. That conflict alone would be grounds for further investigation in any other case. People rarely kill themselves when they are the acting party in a divorce proceeding. None of this was taken into consideration at the time of Cobain’s death. Look at what happened to Phil Hartman. He wanted a divorce, his wife did not, he sure as hell did not end up committing suicide did he?
9. There are all types of inconsistencies with the crime scene as well, the most popular being that Kurt has "barricaded" himself inside, when really it was a simple push/pull lock that closes and locks the door behind you. Anyone could have locked him in. The stool they said was barring the door was across the room. But the main inconsistancy (other than the fact that he was dead of an overdose before he could have pulled the trigger) is THE GUN. Just go to this link and read the points this guy makes about the gun and casing GREAT BLOG!: http://www.freewebs.com/grungeboy152/apps/blog/show/2014622-kurt-cobain-case-shotgun-facts- Two main points, but he explains it in detail and includes photos and diagrams of the crime scene in the greenhouse: 1. How the heck did Kurt pull the trigger due to the length of the gun. He either had really long arms, or he used his toe. However, the latter is improbable due to his wearing tennis shoes. And 2: Remington M11 20 gauge Shotgun shell ejection port is on the right, WHY is the spent shell casing found on his left?? The gun lies so perfectly straight on his chest, what about kick-back? The scene looks STAGED.
10. After the case was closed I find it very interesting how all of the raw data and proof just disappears. The note was destroyed. (thankfully Tom Grant was smart enough to trick CL into making a copy!!) The body was cremated, some of the pictures went missing, the shotgun has been “officially” melted down for charity, Courtney had the greenhouse destroyed entirely and the main house renovated. People surrounding the case are dead too. Nik Hartshorne dead of a base jumping accident. In fact, let's talk about Hartshorne. Did you know that Hartshorne used to front a band when he went to UCLA that consisted of his UCLA buddies? Guess who they were friends with. Oh, he hung out with CL and they occasionally played clubs together with CL first husband Falling James Moorland from Leaving Trains. They knew each other personally for five years. She called him her Rock n Roll coroner. Why didn't he recuse himself and hand the case over to someone a bit more objective?? He was also the coroner who signed the death certificate for Kristen Pfaff! DOES NO ONE BUT ME FIND THIS TO BE ASTOUNDING?? WHEN YOU WATCH THE BROOMFIELD DOCUMENTARY 'KURT AND COURTNEY'; THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH COURTNEY FACE TO FACE (BEFORE BROOMFIELD FINALLY GETS THE GUTS TO GO TO THE PODIUM AND PROTEST CL BEING THE MAIN SPEAKER) DO THEY SAY A N Y T H I N G TO HER AS THEY HAVE BEEN TALKING THEMSELVES UP TO DO?? NO! THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW HER, AND THEY ARE STUNNED INTO BUMBLING GOSH GEE'S! ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE WAS IN HER OSCAR NOMINATION RED CARPET PHASE. AND YOU ARE TELLING ME THERE IS NO INFLUENCE AT ALL WITH FUCKING HARTSHORNE? BITCH, PLEASE. Like everyone, he was seduced by the fame. During the Unsolved Mystery bit on Kurt's death, another coroner comes forward and identifies himself as the coroner of the case but that was a lie. The coroner was Hartshorne. Also, he didn't sign the death certificate until 4-9-1994, a day after the body was found and it wasn't filed until the 14th. I'll bet a lot of talk was going on, a lot of money was changing hands? A lot of it was not complete but with all the controversy the police closed ranks and anyone with any doubts was shuffled off. He should have taken more time with the case before glibly announcing a suicide the way he did. I wonder how he felt about himself later when he had time to think about his actions. There must have been a lot of pressure for them to close ranks. I mean, they did NO INVESTIGATION. The weird part is that he and other officers on the scene took at least 125 photos on film and Polaroid but they have never been developed and the Polaroid's have never been made available. Legitimate enquires were rebuffed along with the ghoulish requests from the tabloids and then the pictures mysteriously disappeared?? When asked why the Polaroids were never made available to legitimate forensic investigators Hartshorne answered, “Because the widow doesn’t want us to.” This tells us that Courtney was in control of everything both before and after the murder, even the medical examiner was in her thrall. If it were someone other than Kurt, would they have investigated it differently?
11. The truth is the SPD did NOT DO THEIR JOB AND THEY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO COVER IT UP EVER SINCE. They are probably afraid that they are going to be sued by many victims families who have had copycat suicides as a result of their hero being murdered and it made to look like suicide and then they just walk and no one EVER SETTLES THE SCORE TOWARD TRUE JUSTICE. Here is a quote direct from Hank Harrison's book and I think he nails it:
"Unfortunately, Kurt was already a target for the police. He was well known for saying, “Vandalism: Beautiful as a rock in a cop’s face.” So the local police had contempt for him. Nobody is looking at the real evidence because everybody wants to believe he blew his face off. (Plus CL had called police several times and media was already set to look at Kurt as suicidal. He was a time-bomb ready to check out in their mindset) Like most heroes, Kurt was bigger out of town than he was at home The Seattle ruling elite wanted Kurt’s name besmirched. They wanted grunge to die so that the could get back to their golf. They wanted to export software and jumbo jets, not garage bands. And the police, coroner and medical examiner, investigative journalists for the most part, did not do their jobs.
"Someone wanted to shut him up. Not just Courtney. Kurt was a real revolutionary like Che Guevara, and Lennon and Martin Luther King and Trotsky and they were each one assassinated. He was just too damned outspoken and, more importantly, he was teaching his fans to think for themselves. How dare he send messages out over an easily-controlled media. Cobain had to be stopped because he was leading the brainwashed X-gen children away from their cereal bowls and brand name identities. Kurt would not kiss corporate ass, not for David Geffen, not for Courtney, not for Danny Goldberg and especially not for Wal-Mart. (Which he did end up caving slightly in their demands to "edit" the album and artwork, anywho..). He was fast becoming personae non-grata at DGC records. He didn’t want to sign on for another tour, he didn't want to do Lollapalooza and he broke up the band. Something that is neglectfully never mentioned. Gold Mountain was in bed with Geffen with Hole. Whoever killed him also envied him because they immediately set about to disgrace his good name at every possible juncture. Courtney approved of or put out five books, all making Kurt look stupid. Whoever killed him feared him, envied him and hated him. Courtney built no memorial to Kurt, not even a cheap headstone, others had to do that. I find that curious don’t you? Who all stood to gain from Kurt's death?" (HH Love and Murder The Assassination of Kurt Cobain)
Please do some reading on http://www.justiceforkurt.com/investigation/timeline/aftermath_carnation.shtml about the strange attempts at side-tracking the investigation. Normal widows who are grieving for a dead husband just do not act the way she did. Instead of a divorced woman who lost the control of her husband she so desperately needed, she is left with EVERYTHING that was his and one of the most visionary artists of his lifetime is left with this horrible suicide legacy which overshadows every important thing he ever did, his daughter is left with this image, friends, fans. We are left with an emptiness and the lack of hearing EVER AGAIN what he would have created in his future works. I still feel that loss.
Next, a whole list of inconsistencies, questions and random tidbits that I find interesting about the murder and the Professional Widow.
